Step-by-Step Guide to Creating Your First Course with LearnDash

This guide will hold your hand through every step of setting up your first amazing course on LearnDash. By following these steps and incorporating SEO best practices, you’ll be well on your way to creating a course that ranks well in search engines and attracts students.

I’m not particularly eager to make things complex so I have written down the step-by-step process in a very simple way and at the end I have included the video on how to upload the Learndash course as well.

Course Structure: Building a Learning Journey

One of the first thing we all need to understand is the course structure, Here’s a breakdown of the typical LearnDash course structure:

  1. Course: This is the top level and represents the entire learning program. It will have a title, description, and house all the lessons within it.

  2. Lessons: These are the building blocks of your course and represent specific topics or units of knowledge. Lessons can be further broken down into smaller chunks.

  3. Topics: Topics sit within lessons and provide even more granular organization. They are ideal for lengthy lessons that can be divided into smaller, more manageable sections.

  4. Quizzes: These are assessments you can embed within lessons or topics to test student knowledge and gauge their understanding of the material.

Here are some tips for planning your course structure:

  • Start with Learning Objectives: Clearly define what students will be able to do by the end of your course. This will guide the content you create and the order you present it.
  • Break Down Your Knowledge: Think about the logical progression of your topic and segment it into digestible lessons. Aim for lessons that can be completed in focused learning sessions.
  • Variety is Key: Use a mix of text, videos, images, and quizzes to keep students engaged and cater to different learning styles.
  • Logical Flow: Organize your lessons and topics in a way that builds upon the previous knowledge. Ensure a smooth progression of information.
